Not only do we handle EDGE's budgeting, but the Marketing and Finance portfolio communicates with students about EDGE through our Week of Welcome Clubs Fair booth, Facebook page, and classroom talks. VP Marketing & Finance
Hi there! I am so excited to be your VP Marketing & Finance for EDGE this year, particularly because of how much I’m going to learn from it in areas that are outside of my Human Resource Management major. Because it’s my last year at the University of Alberta, I’m ready to give this role my all and commit to making material that you’ll enjoy. This will certainly give me an interesting perspective to work with in my HR career of how to make people engaged at work so that they feel motivated to accomplish their goals. This comes from my fascination with how people think and, in applying this knowledge, how people can be compelled to do certain things.
As for my general interests, I love to watch Netflix shows in my spare time, of which Atypical and The Crown are my favourite so far, or read almost any genre of fiction. The film that I love every time is Avatar, and the corporate leader whom I admire is Heather Reisman, the founder and CEO of Indigo Books and Music. This Canadian retailer is a unique success story of products and culture that inspires me for my career.
My name is Molly and I am honoured to be involved with EDGE as the Marketing Director. I am in my final year at the University of Alberta, pursuing a Major in Accounting and participating in the Leadership Certificate Program. I chose an accounting as I love challenging puzzles and interpreting numbers. Upon graduation, I will be working towards my Chartered Professional Accountant designation.
For two summers, my job has brought me to the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Montana to promote Alberta. I am extremely passionate about all that Alberta offers and I love encouraging travelers to visit. I was lucky that I had the opportunity to learn piano and I later taught piano lessons to give youth the chance to pursue their musical passions. When I am not on the hiking trails or socializing with friends, I enjoy watching the television show Friends. I particularly enjoy this series because no matter what episode, I am guaranteed to laugh.
Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook, is a business leader that I greatly admire. Not only is she a woman making waves in the workplace, but she is also extremely philanthropic and dedicates much of her time and resources towards others.
